Trans Am Firebird Under Sill Plate / Wire Cover Install & Removal Video.
Trans Am & Firebird under sill plates protect the seat belt and power window wiring from damage while also supporting the carpeting.The tail lamp wiring harness also resides under these plates at the left and right door area of your interior cabin.
When you open the door of your Firebird or Trans Am you'll find a sill plate, under that sill plate there is an "under sill plate" or "wire cover". These units from GM were not coated and hence rotted out. When replacing your carpet it is important to also replace these wire covers. Gaugemarks and Fbodywarehouse offer these units and the below install video shows how to install the new replacement units. OER does produce a more expensive metal unit but the ones shown in the video are not only cheaper in cost but also contructed from aluminum and will not rust ever again!
